Recently Grier started to do something new. Whenever she is somewhere she feels comfortable she takes her shoes and socks or tights off. This time we were in a cafe and she was obviously quite settled so decided to shed her socks and wellies. It's one of those idiosyncrasies that if I didn't write down we would probably forget, in short a perfect 'ordinary moment'.
If she were our first child I'm sure I would have insisted she keep footwear on in public for fear of what she might tread on and also because I was worried about what other people might think. But this time round, those things are less important than allowing my girl the freedom to explore the world her way
*PS, she stayed on the chair, didn't touch the ground and her shoes went back on when we left. (*added information for grandparents benefit!)
