Time for another Liberty Project make! You can read about the others here, and here
I collect B's for B and G's for G. It's one of my things. Anyhoo remember when I made this button monogram for Grier? I wanted to add another to her collection and a few weeks ago I saw one made with Liberty fabric on an embroidery hoop. Of course I didn't pin the image straight away because I'm a fool and then spent some considerable time searching in vain before I decided I would just do my best from memory. And here's what happened.

I bought an embroidery hoop from Hobbycraft, thinking it was wooden. It's actually stretchy rubbery stuff with a woodgrain texture but it was so easy to get the material nice and taut so I'm converted to these bad boys. I used linen fabric leftover from my failed craft fair days and of course my beloved Liberty Tana Lawn.
I used a G we already had to make a template and cut out a Liberty fabric G. Using iron on sticky stuff for appliqué I attached it to the linen fabric and set about stitching around the edge. I practiced a few times and picked a good length for my zigzag stitch through trial and error. It was surprisingly easy to follow the outline of the letter and at a few bits I went back over the original stitches to fill it out a bit. When that was done I embroidered a few flowers and added a few tiny buttons from my cardmaking stash. I could have kept going easily but I tried to restrain myself to keep it looking more handmade not homemade, know what I mean?
